KidsAid: A Charity Supporting Children Who've Experienced Trauma in their young lives.....
KidsAid is a Northamptonshire-based charity supporting children & young people who have experienced trauma, mental health difficulties & adverse life experiences. KidsAid explains that it helps bridge the gap for children and young people who may otherwise struggle to access any support. They describe their charity as one of the few youth charity organisations in the Midlands providing long-term, trauma-informed therapy tailored to each individual person & child.
The Charity Commission's description of KidsAid is a child-centred charity that supports traumatised children through long-term, evidence-based therapies, with the ultimate aim of improving child mental health and helping families thrive.
KidsAid is non-government funded.
That matters because it means fundraising and community support are of the utmost necessity to keeping the charity’s work going.
For KidsAid, the additional income from referrals helps bridge the gap for children who cannot access funding but still need support.
How the Charity Connector UW Route Helps KidsAid
KidsAid got involved with Connectors through a UW Partner who wanted to help people and suggested that KidsAid could become a UW Connector.
Through the connector programme, KidsAid can receive money for each successful referral.
The money they receive from Connectors builds up and goes directly towards children’s therapy itself.
That is the heart of this story.
A simple referral can become part of something much bigger.
It may start as a conversation about household bills.
It may lead to someone reviewing services like Gas, Electricity, Broadband, Mobile or Insurance.
It may result in the charity receiving additional funds.
Those funds are baly needed to help pay for therapy for children who need support.
